Intuitive Surgical posted adjusted earnings of $3.00 per share for the third quarter of 2026, exceeding the Wall Street consensus of $2.64. That marks six consecutive quarters of beating EPS estimates, with non-GAAP gross margin expanding to 69.9% from 66.4% a year ago.
Intuitive placed 546 da Vinci systems in the quarter, up from 427 in Q3 2025, with 315 of those being the newer da Vinci 5 model. Surgeons were running more than 10,000 procedures per day on average across the quarter, driving instruments and accessories revenue up 18% year over year.
Revenue for the quarter came in at $3.05 billion, up 21.7% year over year and ahead of consensus. GAAP earnings fell to $1.49 per share, weighed down by a $450 million pre-tax litigation settlement charge that the $3.00 adjusted number strips out, and that item remains subject to court approval.
For the full year, management guided da Vinci procedure growth of approximately 14% to 15%, expecting results closer to the midpoint of that range. The company also repurchased 7.8 million shares for $2.94 billion during the quarter, backed by a $6.8 billion cash position. The outlook assumes current tariffs hold through year-end, with manufacturing exposure in Mexico and Germany flagged as a risk.
