Kevin Hern cleared out seven consumer names in a single day, from Comcast and Diageo to Estee Lauder and Kenvue, then routed as much as $700,000 into Oklahoma municipal bonds. A Ways and Means Republican rotating that hard from consumer equities into tax-free local paper is worth noting while Congress debates banning member trading.

On August 5, 2026, Hern sold positions in Comcast, Diageo, Estee Lauder, and Kenvue, along with three other consumer names, in what the disclosure shows as a single-day sweep. Selling seven names in one session points to a deliberate rotation.
The capital appears to have moved toward Oklahoma municipal bonds, with filings showing purchases of paper from Caddo County, the Edmond Public Works Authority, the Grand River Dam Authority, and Kingfisher County. The Kingfisher County educational facilities bond was the largest single position in the batch.

Congress has been actively debating whether members should be permitted to trade individual equities at all. A Ways and Means Committee Republican moving capital out of consumer equities and into tax-exempt local government paper sidesteps much of the stock-picking scrutiny driving that reform debate.
The August 10 filing date came 25 days after the earliest trade in this batch, so the public learned of these moves well after they were complete. Six additional trades sit in the full disclosure, making Hern's repositioning larger than the consumer-equity sales alone.
