The FTSE 100 opened Thursday at 10,833, matching its previous close and sitting within striking distance of all-time high territory after two weeks in a tight band.

Frankfurt and Paris opened flat, so there is no broad European tailwind pushing London higher today. That puts the burden squarely on UK-listed companies and whatever earnings momentum has been building in the domestic market to supply the next leg up.
