Magna International delivered $1.83 in adjusted earnings per share, exceeding expectations, while revenue came in just under estimates. Cost discipline, not volume, is carrying the profit line now.

Adjusted EBIT margin expanded 90 basis points to 6.8% on favorable commercial settlements, productivity gains and tariff recoveries. North American and Chinese light vehicle production both fell year over year, and divestitures of the Lighting and Rooftop Systems businesses trimmed sales, yet margins still moved higher.

A lower effective tax rate and a 6% reduction in diluted shares from buybacks amplified the per-share gain. Magna repurchased 23.0 million shares for $1.4 billion over the first nine months of 2026.

Management raised full-year free cash flow guidance while trimming the full-year sales outlook to reflect lower expected China production and unfavorable program mix. The adjusted EPS range was narrowed to $6.85 to $7.15.

With five of the last eight quarters above consensus on earnings, Magna keeps meeting expectations in a soft production environment. An Investor Day on November 11 is the next moment for management to lay out strategic priorities.
