Magnolia Oil & Gas posted adjusted earnings per share of $0.71 in the third quarter of 2026, clearing the consensus estimate of $0.59 by 21%. Revenue came in at $513.89 million, beating expectations by about 8% and surging 58% from the same quarter a year earlier. The numbers carry an important asterisk: the WildFire Energy acquisition closed in September, so only a partial period of that deal's production is reflected here.

The WildFire deal added roughly 53 Mboe/d of production and pushed Magnolia's Giddings footprint past 1.25 million net acres. Total company production reached 117.3 Mboe/d in the quarter, up 17% year over year, with oil volumes rising 24%. A realized oil price of $87.18 per barrel, compared with $63.55 a barrel in the prior-year period, provided a meaningful revenue tailwind on top of the volume gains.

On the balance sheet, management achieved its target of less than 1.0x net debt to forecasted EBITDAX more than a year ahead of the original schedule tied to the WildFire announcement. The company generated $224 million of adjusted free cash flow during the quarter with a reinvestment rate of 38% of adjusted EBITDAX. It also repurchased 2.3 million shares for $60.2 million and declared a quarterly dividend of $0.18 per share.

GAAP earnings of $0.35 per share lagged the adjusted figure considerably, weighed down by $68.74 million in transaction and integration costs and $39.87 million in unrealized derivative losses connected to the acquisition. Those charges are largely one-time in nature and should diminish as integration winds down. The company said synergy capture is running ahead of expectations, with more than one-third of the anticipated annual synergies on track to be realized by year-end.

The number investors will study most closely arrives in Q4 2026, the first full combined quarter for the enlarged company. Magnolia guided production of 159 to 161 Mboe/d for that period, a sharp step up from 117.3 in Q3. Looking further out, the company projected 2027 drilling and completion capital of $900 to $950 million alongside production growth of 4% to 5%, with roughly 65% of drilling activity targeting the Austin Chalk formation across the expanded Giddings acreage.
