Matson posted Q2 2026 earnings per share of $4.27, topping the $3.82 consensus estimate by nearly 12%. Revenue came in at $969.4 million, about 8% above the $894 million Wall Street had expected. The results mark a sharp acceleration from the $2.92 EPS Matson reported in Q2 2025 and extend a streak of beats that stretches back to Q2 2025.
The headline driver was Ocean Transportation, where operating income climbed 46% to $144 million, fueled by tight transpacific capacity. Management specifically called out the China service as running at or near capacity through peak season, a signal that rate and volume pressure is unlikely to ease in the near term. Those conditions gave the company enough confidence to raise its full-year guidance.

The Q4 2025 beat — $4.60 reported versus $2.78 estimated — and now this Q2 2026 result suggest the transpacific freight environment has been consistently stronger than analysts anticipated.
