Mid Penn Bancorp reported Q2 2026 earnings per share of $0.85, clearing the consensus estimate of $0.79 by about 7.6% and snapping a one-quarter miss streak. Revenue came in at $75.9 million, also topping estimates of $73.3 million by roughly 3.5%. The quarter marked a notable rebound from Q1 2026, when the bank earned just $0.64 against an $0.80 estimate.
A key driver of the beat was a 62-basis-point expansion in net interest margin, which reached 4.06%. That widening followed the completed acquisitions of 1st Colonial and William Penn, which appear to have added meaningfully to the bank's earning-asset base. Net interest margin is closely watched at community banks because it captures the spread between what a bank earns on loans and pays on deposits, and a move of this size is substantial.

Management also used the strong quarter to reward shareholders on two fronts: a 4.55% dividend increase and an expanded share repurchase authorization of $50 million. Investors will want to watch whether the margin gains from the two acquisitions prove durable in coming quarters, and whether the buyback authorization is put to work at a meaningful pace.
