Motorola Solutions reported Q2 2026 earnings per share of $4.41, clearing the Wall Street consensus of roughly $3.85 by about 14%. Revenue came in at $3.13 billion, topping estimates by about 4%. The quarter was not entirely clean, however — management noted that approximately $0.25 of the EPS figure was attributable to IEEPA tariff refunds, meaning the underlying operating beat, while still solid, was somewhat smaller than the headline number suggests.
The results were backed by genuine business momentum. Public safety orders hit a Q2 record, and the company ended the period with a record backlog of $15.6 billion, giving visibility well into future quarters. Management also announced a $1.5 billion deal to acquire counter-drone firm D-Fend Solutions, a move that extends Motorola's reach into an increasingly high-demand segment of the public safety and defense market.

Full-year EPS guidance was raised meaningfully, to a range of $17.62 to $17.72 from the prior range of $16.87 to $16.99. That upward revision, combined with the record backlog and the D-Fend deal, signals that management sees the demand environment as durable. Investors will want to watch how much of the remaining year's guidance depends on further tariff-related tailwinds versus core operational performance.
