CXMT, China's largest DRAM maker, doubled its share of the global memory market to 10% in a single year. Its president said in Shanghai the company aims to launch a server-grade DDR5 module on a next-generation 4F² cell architecture by the end of 2026, while Samsung targets mass production of its own 4F² technology in 2028.

The 4F² architecture shrinks the DRAM cell footprint by roughly 33% versus the conventional 6F² design, allowing more memory density in the same chip area. CXMT says its proprietary vertical surrounding gate transistor technology solves the current leakage problems that have historically made 4F² difficult to manufacture.

Analysts at Kiwoom Securities called it premature to price in oversupply fears before CXMT has demonstrated competitive production yields, performance, and the customer qualification process that server memory buyers demand. CXMT also lacks access to ASML's advanced extreme ultraviolet lithography equipment, a constraint on its path to consistent yields at high volume.

Memory valuations rest on disciplined supply from a small group of producers keeping prices firm. A Chinese entrant that expanded its global share this aggressively in one year, operating outside the margin-preservation logic of Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron, is a direct challenge to that assumption.
