Two locking distributors cutting their purchases ended six consecutive quarters of earnings beats for NAPCO Security Technologies, with equipment revenue down 7.3%. Reported EPS and total revenue both missed expectations.
CEO Kevin Buchel attributed the pullback to a distributor inventory decision rather than weaker demand. Sell-through at both distributors grew year over year and strengthened sequentially, which management views as the more reliable signal of end-market spending. That separates a temporary stocking adjustment from a structural deterioration.

The part of the business management controls most directly kept accelerating: recurring service revenue climbed 11.5% to a quarterly record of $26.1 million. That mix shift lifted consolidated gross margin, and the October 2026 run rate implies a higher annualized pace than July 2026.
Equipment revenue stays a drag on headline results until those two distributors normalize orders toward sell-through. NAPCO declared a quarterly dividend of $0.17 per share, payable January 4, 2027, to shareholders of record on December 14, 2026. Management sees the balance sheet sustaining capital returns through the soft patch.
