National Fuel Gas reported Q3 2026 earnings per share of $1.54, topping the consensus estimate of roughly $1.44 by about 7%. Revenue came in at $537.5 million, however, falling nearly 5% short of the $564.3 million analysts had expected, with a 7% decline in natural gas production weighing on the top line. The EPS beat continues a strong recent trend — NFG has now exceeded estimates in five of the last six quarters, with the lone miss coming in Q3 2024.
Even as production slipped, management signaled confidence in the long-term outlook by raising the dividend for the 56th consecutive year, a streak that puts NFG among the most consistent dividend growers in the utility sector. The company also set a target of 7-10% average annual EPS growth through 2029, a range it expects to support as its Ohio utility acquisition is set to close in October.

That pending acquisition is the near-term catalyst most investors will be watching. Once it closes, the added regulated utility earnings could help offset the volatility in the production segment that contributed to the revenue shortfall this quarter.
