Neogen posted first-quarter fiscal 2027 revenue of $222.8 million, exceeding expectations, with adjusted EPS of $0.08 also topping estimates. Revenue grew 6.5% year over year, a pace strong enough to prompt management to raise full-year guidance.

Gross margin expanded to 47.4% from 45.4% a year ago, with the primary driver being a steep decline in costs tied to integrating the 3M food safety business. Adjusted EBITDA reached $41.6 million at an 18.7% margin.

The Food Safety segment led the way with $163.2 million in revenue, up 7.4%, powered by Petrifilm and pathogen detection products. Animal Safety added $59.6 million, up 4.2%. Geographically, international demand was a notable bright spot, with the Asia Pacific region posting double-digit growth.

Management lifted full-year revenue guidance to a range of $885 million to $890 million and raised Adjusted EBITDA guidance. The company also said it remains on track to begin manufacturing saleable Petrifilm product in November 2026 as part of a planned multi-quarter transition to its Lansing facility.

The pending sale of the global Genomics business to Zoetis is expected to close by the end of December 2026, which remains a key event for investors to monitor. Management flagged that the quarter included roughly a 3% core revenue benefit from prior-year distributor inventory adjustments and the timing of customer orders, so the underlying organic run rate is somewhat softer than the headline number implies.
