NVIDIA and MediaTek Deepen Long-Standing Partnership to Build AI Edge to Cloud Computing Platforms
Nvidia put $3.5 billion into MediaTek convertible bonds to lock in a partner that will build custom XPUs on the NVLink Fusion platform, keeping rival accelerators inside Nvidia racks rather than outside them. The tie-up also extends across RTX Spark and DGX Spark PC chips and Dimensity Auto vehicle platforms, widening the installed base beyond the data center.

By having MediaTek build its custom XPUs on NVLink Fusion, NVIDIA keeps third-party silicon tethered to its own interconnect standard, preserving its position at the center of AI infrastructure even as chip customers push for more design flexibility.
