Orchid Island Capital posted Q2 2026 earnings per share of $0.44, beating the $0.29 consensus estimate by roughly 50%. Revenue came in at just under $96 million, topping estimates of about $56 million by more than 71%. The quarter marked a dramatic swing from a year-ago loss to $89 million in profit, fueled by elevated gains on residential mortgage-backed securities and a widening of net interest spreads to 1.94%.

The Q2 result continues a recovery arc for ORC after a difficult Q1 2026, when the company reported a loss of $0.11 per share against expectations of $0.33. Going back further, the REIT had also posted a small loss in Q3 2024, so back-to-back beats in Q2 and Q3 2025 and a strong Q4 2025 print of $0.20 EPS had already signaled improving momentum before this quarter's outsized result.
