Arctic ice class season plus a firming dry bulk market pushed charter equivalent rates to $20,414 per day, 31% above last year. Q4 is already partly booked at an even higher $21,423 per day, so the momentum is visible before the quarter is half over.

Pangaea Logistics Solutions reported adjusted earnings per share of $0.52 for the third quarter of 2026, well ahead of the $0.305 consensus estimate and good for a 70% beat. Revenue of $219.1 million also topped the $204.9 million estimate by 6.91% and climbed roughly 30% from the same period a year earlier. The quarter was the company's strongest in recent memory by several measures, with adjusted EBITDA surging 81.3% to $52.4 million and the EBITDA margin expanding to 23.9% from 17.1% a year ago.

The engine behind those numbers was a convergence of two forces: peak Arctic ice-class season, which is Pangaea's commercial sweet spot, and a broadly firming dry bulk market. Time charter equivalent rates averaged $20,414 per day, up 31% from $15,559 a year earlier, and the fleet earned a 13% premium over the average Baltic Panamax, Supramax, and Handysize indices. Total shipping days grew 8% to 6,339, adding volume on top of the rate tailwind.

The company's port and terminal operations added another layer of growth. Terminal and stevedore revenue rose 73% year over year, and dry bulk tons discharged across the network increased 65%, reflecting the full contribution of port operations that came online over the past year. CEO Mads Boye Petersen described the quarter as a demonstration of the operating leverage in Pangaea's model when its niche ice-class fleet and broader commercial platform are working together.

Visibility into the fourth quarter is already unusually strong. Quarter-to-date, Pangaea has locked in 5,040 shipping days at an average TCE of $21,423 per day, with late-season Arctic voyages still contributing in October. That forward booking rate is higher than the Q3 average, suggesting the rate momentum has not yet peaked as the quarter begins.

Shortly after the quarter closed, the company refinanced $134 million of debt at a meaningfully lower margin, a move management says is aimed at reducing the cost of capital and simplifying the balance sheet. Pangaea also declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.10 per common share, payable December 15 to shareholders of record December 1, underscoring management's stated goal of sustaining consistent capital returns alongside fleet renewal investment.
