Remitly Global Q3 2026: Why a Double Beat Still Sent Shares Down 10%
As seen on the 24/7 Wall St. homepage on November 4, 2026.
A double beat and raised full-year guidance to roughly $1.99 billion still sent shares down more than 10% after hours, with traders wanting more than a 0.5% revenue surprise. The board also tripled the buyback authorization to $500 million.

Remitly Global posted Q3 2026 earnings per share of $0.30, beating expectations against a $0.28 consensus, while revenue of $509.8 million edged past estimates by roughly half a percent. Despite both figures landing ahead of expectations and the company raising its full-year 2026 revenue outlook to approximately $1.99 billion, shares fell more than 10% after hours. A 0.5% revenue surprise was not enough to satisfy investors who had priced in a larger outperformance.
The underlying business showed genuine momentum. Send volume grew 25% to $24.4 billion, active customers rose 17% to 10.3 million, and transaction margin widened to 68.1% from 65.0% a year earlier. Operating income surged to $69.4 million from $11.8 million in the same quarter of 2025, a nearly fivefold increase, as the company wrung more efficiency out of every revenue dollar across marketing, technology, and customer support.
Part of that efficiency came from AI-driven productivity gains, which the company said improved output without adding headcount, particularly in technology, development, and customer support functions. CEO Sebastian Gunningham described the quarter as reflecting "the expanding value of our global network, which has connected the financial lives of more than 50 million senders and recipients over the past year," and framed the company's direction as evolving "from a remittance company into a global financial services provider for people and businesses whose money crosses borders."

The board also tripled the buyback authorization, raising it from $200 million to $500 million. The program has no expiration date and can be modified or suspended at any time. Through the nine months ended September 30, 2026, the company had already spent $80 million repurchasing shares, so the expanded authorization signals a meaningful increase in capital return capacity relative to what had been deployed.
Looking ahead, Remitly guided Q4 2026 revenue to $531 million to $533 million, representing 20% to 21% year-over-year growth, with adjusted EBITDA of $104 million to $106 million. The full-year adjusted EBITDA outlook of $441 million to $443 million implies a 22% margin. Recovery from the after-hours drop hinges on whether investors come to view the operating leverage story as more durable than the modest headline revenue surprise suggests.
