RPM International posted adjusted earnings per share of $1.98 for its fiscal first quarter of 2027, beating the consensus estimate of roughly $1.95, with net income up 12.6% year over year despite a $4.4 million bad debt expense and a $6.3 million warranty charge in the Construction Products Group.
The Performance Coatings Group delivered 10.2% revenue growth on demand for engineered solutions in high-performance buildings, energy and infrastructure projects, and food coatings, enough to offset the Construction Products drag.
Revenue grew 4.8% year over year to roughly $2.22 billion, narrowly missing expectations, while operating cash flow strengthened and total debt fell to $2.41 billion.
Management narrowed full-year fiscal 2027 guidance to mid-single-digit growth in both sales and adjusted EBITDA. The forward signal to track is the Construction Products Group, which leadership expects to return to positive organic growth by year-end, removing the principal drag on consolidated results.
RPM returned $90.5 million to stockholders through dividends and share repurchases in the quarter, up 10.2% versus the prior year. An Investor Day on November 9, 2026, at a Stonhard facility in New Jersey will detail the MAP operational improvement program and early-stage MAP 3.0 initiatives.
