Ryder posted adjusted EPS of $4.33 for the third quarter, beating expectations and extending what is now eight consecutive quarters of earnings-per-share growth.
Fleet Management Solutions led the quarter, with segment earnings before taxes climbing 21% to $177 million. Rental power-fleet utilization recovered even as the average fleet shrank, a sign of tightening capacity across the freight market.
Supply Chain Solutions also contributed, with total revenue rising 9%, helped by optimization of omnichannel retail networks and new business wins. Dedicated Transportation Solutions was the soft spot, with earnings before taxes slipping 5% to $34 million, weighed down by a lower fleet count and productivity headwinds from ramping new business.

Management raised full-year comparable EPS guidance to $14.85 to $15.05 and lifted its adjusted return-on-equity target. The company also boosted rental fleet investment, a direct bet that freight market demand continues to strengthen into 2027.
CEO John Diez pointed to used vehicle sales and rental as execution highlights, noting that contractual sales activity accelerated in both the lease and dedicated segments during the quarter. Investors should note that full-year GAAP EPS guidance includes roughly $4.30 per share in non-cash pension settlement charges tied to the transfer of U.K. and Canadian defined benefit plan obligations to insurance companies, which weighs on the headline number while the underlying operating picture holds.
