S&T Bancorp delivered record diluted EPS of $1.09 for the third quarter of 2026, beating expectations, with revenue also setting a record. CEO Chris McComish called it a quarter of record earnings per share and record revenue, adding that the bank is well-positioned to build on this momentum.
Net interest income drove the beat as the fully taxable equivalent net interest margin expanded 7 basis points to 4.06%. Asset yields climbed while discipline on the liability side held the increase in interest-bearing costs to a few basis points. With many banks still wrestling with elevated deposit costs, holding that spread matters.
Efficiency improved as the efficiency ratio tightened to 53.23% from the prior quarter, helped by lower noninterest expense. Average total loan balances grew, led by commercial real estate and consumer loans, while asset quality held firm.
This was the seventh consecutive quarter in which S&T Bancorp surpassed analyst expectations, with reported results consistently running ahead of estimates. Net charge-offs did tick up to $2.1 million from $1.0 million in Q2, and commercial and industrial loans declined sequentially, two items worth monitoring as the bank heads into Q4.
Share repurchases have amplified per-share gains, with 8.3% of outstanding shares bought back since the program began in Q4 2025, though none occurred in Q3 2026 itself. A quarterly dividend of $0.37 per share was declared in the quarter, continuing the bank's pattern of returning capital alongside organic earnings growth.
