SFL reported third-quarter 2026 earnings per share of $0.26, beating the consensus estimate of $0.07, on revenue of $201.6 million that also came in ahead of expectations. The headline EPS figure carries some non-cash weight, including net positive mark-to-market effects from hedging derivatives and equity investments.

SFL added approximately $1.07 billion in new charter commitments during the quarter, anchored by a seven-year extension with Hapag-Lloyd covering six 15,400-TEU container vessels worth about $750 million, extending coverage out to 2035 and 2036. The company also ordered three Very Large Ammonia Carriers for 2028 delivery, tied to long-term charters with an oil major and a commodities leader. With those additions, the fixed-rate backlog stands at roughly $5 billion across a weighted average remaining term of 7.1 years.

A planned asset sale adds a near-term cash catalyst. SFL expects to deliver four LR2 and three Suezmax tankers to buyers in Q4 2026 and Q1 2027, generating an anticipated book gain of approximately $175 million and net cash proceeds of about $275 million after profit-share settlement and debt repayment. The company has 14 newbuildings under construction, spanning seven container vessels, four car carriers, and three Very Large Ammonia Carriers, with roughly $1.7 billion in remaining capital expenditure and deliveries scheduled from the second half of 2027 through 2029.

Fleet utilization was near-full across most segments during the quarter, with container, tanker, and car carrier fleets all running at 97% or better. The energy segment remained a soft spot, operating at 50% utilization. On the litigation front, a Norwegian Court of Appeal ordered Seadrill to pay SFL about $55 million in a rig redelivery case, though that ruling is not final and is subject to appeal to the Supreme Court of Norway.

SFL declared its 91st consecutive quarterly dividend of $0.22 per share, with a record and ex-dividend date of December 15 and payment on or around December 28, 2026. The board also has a share repurchase authorization of up to $100 million in common shares outstanding through June 2029, and the company stated it has no further plans to issue shares after completing its DRIP and ATM sales program in July 2026.
