Simpson Manufacturing posted third-quarter earnings per share of $2.68, beating expectations, and net sales also cleared Wall Street's target with growth year over year, the company's latest in a run of quarters landing above expectations.

The North America segment was the primary driver, with net sales climbing 3.8% to $502.0 million on pricing actions and higher unit volumes, and segment operating income rose even as material, labor, and freight costs pressured gross margin. Europe was a harder story, with net sales slipping on softer volumes and foreign exchange headwinds.

The standout capital allocation move was a new $1.0 billion share repurchase authorization, replacing a prior $200.0 million program. The company also repurchased shares during the quarter and declared a quarterly dividend, extending Simpson's streak of consecutive annual dividend increases to 11 years.

Management updated its full-year 2026 consolidated operating margin outlook to a range of 20.0% to 20.5%, a figure that includes an expected gain on the sale of vacant land now set to close in the fourth quarter. Capital expenditures and the effective tax rate were also guided for the year.

Management committed to additional pricing actions in 2027 to offset higher steel costs and tighter steel availability. CEO Mike Olosky flagged housing affordability pressures as a near-term headwind but pointed to outperformance across residential, commercial, OEM, and component manufacturer channels as evidence the business is holding its competitive position. The new buyback authorization, with no expiration date, underlines board confidence in cash generation.
