Standard Motor Products posted adjusted diluted EPS of $1.54 for the third quarter of 2026, beating expectations. That marks the eighth consecutive quarter in which the company has reported results, and the EPS beat extends a pattern of outperforming profit expectations that stretches back through 2024.
Revenue of $507.79 million rose 1.8% year over year while missing expectations. The shortfall was partly shaped by an accounting adjustment related to IEEPA tariff refunds that reduced reported GAAP net sales by $5.1 million. Excluding that adjustment, management said net sales grew 2.8% on an adjusted basis.
Vehicle Control carried the quarter, with segment EBITDA climbing to $28.41 million as customers deepened product assortments to capture do-it-for-me installation demand. Nissens, the European business, also contributed, with adjusted net sales up 7.6% on high single-digit local-currency growth, aided by record temperatures in certain end-markets. Temperature Control was the one soft spot, with adjusted net sales down 4.1% against a record prior-year quarter.

Net debt leverage fell to 1.8x, already inside the company's target of below 2.0x by year-end 2026, a full quarter ahead of schedule. Inventory was also reduced, and adjusted EBITDA climbed to a record on adjusted net sales.
Despite the revenue miss, management reaffirmed its full-year 2026 outlook for low-to-mid-single-digit sales growth and an adjusted EBITDA margin of 11% to 12%. The quarter also came alongside a CFO transition, with James Burke stepping into the interim role effective the same day as the earnings release. A quarterly dividend of $0.33 per share is scheduled for payment on December 1, 2026, to shareholders of record as of November 16.
