TAT Technologies delivered third-quarter 2026 earnings per share of $0.58, beating expectations on both earnings and revenue. It ranks among the stronger quarterly beats in the company's recent history.
The Piedmont Aviation Component Services MRO segment drove the outperformance, with revenue up 31.7% and segment operating income more than doubling. That richer mix of high-margin MRO work, plus better absorption of fixed manufacturing overhead, lifted companywide gross margin to 30.9%, which is why earnings grew far faster than revenue.
The catch is on the cash side. Operating cash flow fell to $3.8 million, driven by an inventory build tied to supply-chain and geopolitical caution. The nine-month inventory increase, spanning TAT Distribution under its Honeywell agreement and Piedmont MRO and Trading, signals the company is positioning for future demand while absorbing real working-capital pressure now.

Not everything in the quarter moved in the right direction. The Turbochrome jet engine coating segment swung to an operating loss as its cost of revenues rose 30.6%, and companywide operating expenses rose on higher R&D, G&A, and selling costs. R&D spending alone more than doubled year over year, reflecting the launch of the FutureWorks R&D Lab and development of the NewGen thermal solution.
The balance sheet provides some buffer against the cash flow softness. The company closed the quarter with $53.7 million in cash plus availability under a new revolving credit facility maturing June 2029. Investors weighing the margin expansion story against the inventory build and cash conversion trajectory will find the SEC filing the most direct place to assess how that balance evolves.
