Management raised full-year non-GAAP EPS guidance to $25.40 to $25.50 from $24.45 to $24.65, backed by infrared detectors for space and unmanned defense programs lifting Digital Imaging revenue. Orders have topped sales every quarter for three years, so the sixth straight beat has a visible runway behind it.

Teledyne's third quarter of 2026 came in ahead of expectations, with adjusted non-GAAP earnings of $6.72 per share against a Wall Street consensus of $6.16. CEO Robert Mehrabian called the quarter the strongest in the company's history on both sales and operating earnings.

The engine behind the beat was Digital Imaging, where revenue rose 15% year over year on infrared detectors and subsystems built for space and unmanned defense programs. Non-GAAP operating margin for the whole company widened, a sign that growth is landing efficiently on the bottom line.

Management responded by raising full-year 2026 non-GAAP EPS guidance to a range of $25.40 to $25.50. The lift is underpinned by a funded backlog of nearly $5.3 billion, the product of orders topping sales every quarter for three years running.

Teledyne repurchased $224.6 million of its own shares in September and through October 19, a move management framed as opportunistic given strong free cash flow. The pending acquisition of Varex Imaging, expected to close in early 2027, adds another layer to the imaging growth story, with Varex shareholders scheduled to vote on October 28.

This marks six consecutive quarters in which Teledyne has beaten EPS estimates, a streak that now has tangible demand visibility behind it. Accelerating organic growth in Digital Imaging, expanding margins, a raised full-year outlook, and a multi-year order book make the quarter difficult to dismiss as a one-off.
