The Nikkei 225 opened the August 13 session at 67,524.06, flat on the day, with the Bank of Japan signaling faster rate increases even as the yen keeps weakening.
Faster BOJ tightening normally strengthens the yen, so a still-sliding currency says markets doubt the pace the central bank is advertising.
