Tompkins Financial reported Q2 2026 earnings per share of $2.04, topping the $1.82 consensus estimate by roughly 12% and marking a record for core earnings in the company's new identity as a pure-play community bank. Revenue came in at $87.1 million, a hair above the $86.9 million estimate. Net income surged 36.5% as the bank's fundamentals continued to strengthen across the board.

The standout driver was net interest margin, which expanded 50 basis points year-over-year to 3.58%, reflecting the benefits of the bank's repositioned balance sheet. Loan growth accelerated to 6.9%, providing additional fuel for income. Together, those two levers appear to be doing the heavy lifting that pushed earnings so far ahead of expectations.

Management also raised the dividend 13%, a signal of confidence in the sustainability of the improved earnings trajectory. Looking at the past eight quarters, Tompkins has beaten EPS estimates in seven of them, with the Q2 2026 beat being the widest in that stretch. The one miss, Q3 2025 at $1.65 versus a $1.70 estimate, now looks like an outlier against an otherwise consistent pattern of outperformance.
