Unity Bancorp's Q3 2026 diluted EPS of $1.70 beat expectations, the seventh straight quarter the bank has met or exceeded EPS estimates.
The quarter carried a one-time lift: purchased transferable federal investment tax credits added $2.5 million to net income. CEO James Hughes said that even excluding the tax-credit gain, underlying performance remained strong on healthy customer activity and disciplined balance sheet management.
Net interest margin expanded 11 basis points to 4.67% on higher earning-asset yields from strong loan originations and loan repricing. Loans and deposits both grew by high single to low double digits from year-end 2025, so both sides of the balance sheet are expanding in tandem.

Asset quality improved materially, with nonaccrual loans falling to 0.81% of total loans from 1.23% the prior quarter. One concentration worth monitoring is a $15.5 million commercial real estate relationship that accounts for nearly half of remaining nonaccrual assets.
Management raised the quarterly cash dividend 6% to $0.17 per share, signaling confidence in the capital position. Hughes, who plans to retire in early 2027, noted that President George Boyan has been deeply involved in strategic and operational execution and will assume the CEO role effective April 1, 2027.
