Universal Display posted Q2 2026 earnings per share of $1.06, edging past the $1.03 consensus estimate by about 2.4%. Revenue, however, fell short — the company brought in $152.2 million against an expected $157.5 million, a miss of roughly 3.4%. That top-line shortfall was driven by a steep 25% year-over-year collapse in material sales, the segment most directly tied to how much OLED screen production is actually happening at customer factories.
The revenue trajectory tells a concerning story. After climbing steadily from $158.5 million in Q2 2024 to a recent peak of $172.9 million in Q4 2025, Universal Display has now posted back-to-back soft quarters — $142.2 million in Q1 2026 and $152.2 million in Q2 2026 — reflecting a meaningful pullback in consumer electronics demand. Management responded by guiding full-year revenue toward the bottom of its previously stated range, a signal that no near-term rebound is expected.

For investors, the key tension is between a company that can still thread the needle on earnings-per-share estimates and one whose core material business is shrinking at a double-digit rate. The bottom-of-range guidance puts pressure on the back half of 2026, and any further softness in consumer electronics spending would likely push revenue further from the highs seen just two quarters ago.
