A single $77 million exceptional warranty charge wiped out the quarter, leaving EPS of $0.19, missing expectations of $2.30 even as sales beat. Management raised full-year sales guidance but cut adjusted EBITDA to $370 to $410 million, so the damage extends past one quarter.

A single exceptional warranty charge of $77 million buried what was otherwise a decent quarter for Visteon. Revenue came in ahead of consensus, and the company posted year-over-year sales growth even as customer vehicle production fell. The warranty hit landed entirely in cost of sales, leaving almost nothing for shareholders.

Gross profit fell to $47 million from a year ago, and adjusted EBITDA narrowed as well. Because there were no other non-GAAP adjustments to apply, GAAP and adjusted EPS converged at $0.19, missing expectations.

Visteon had beaten or closely met analyst expectations in each of the prior four quarters, including a wide beat in Q4 2024. Q1 and Q2 2026 had already shown some slippage, with reported EPS missing expectations both times, so Q3 represents a continuation and sharp acceleration of that trend.

Management's updated full-year guidance signals the hit is not entirely contained in one quarter. Visteon raised its 2026 sales target but cut adjusted EBITDA guidance and trimmed adjusted free cash flow guidance, citing the warranty charges and a year-to-date inventory build. Free cash flow for the quarter itself turned negative.

Visteon completed a $200 million accelerated share repurchase program during the quarter and secured new business wins, including display and infotainment awards across India and Europe. CEO Sachin Lawande pointed to the launch of the company's SmartCore High Performance Compute system with Chery as a milestone in Visteon's push toward software and AI-defined vehicles. Those wins support the longer-term revenue pipeline, with little near-term offset to the margin pressure investors are now pricing in.
