Weatherford International posted Q3 2026 earnings of $1.66 per share, beating the consensus estimate by 31%. Revenue came in slightly above expectations while slipping from the same quarter a year earlier, reflecting a tough macro backdrop and persistent disruptions in the Middle East.

The headline EPS figure benefited from a dramatically lower tax burden, with the company recording only a $4 million income tax provision in the quarter, supported by a deferred income tax benefit. The quarter also absorbed restructuring charges, redomestication costs, and other charges tied primarily to M&A activity, so the tax swing was the single largest lever on the bottom line.

Adjusted free cash flow of $155 million rose 57% year over year, with adjusted EBITDA margin expanding sequentially. Management raised full-year adjusted free cash flow guidance for a second time, citing disciplined cost execution and a diversified portfolio that partially offset the year-over-year revenue decline in the Middle East and Africa region.

Strategic moves during the quarter added longer-term optionality. Weatherford closed its acquisition of NCS Multistage, broadening its completions portfolio, and issued notice to redeem the remaining $236 million principal of its 2030 Senior Notes, which reduces annualized cash interest expense. The planned redomestication to Delaware adds further annual cash savings beginning in 2027.

Management guided for a meaningful ramp in adjusted EBITDA in Q4 2026 and pointed to growth opportunities entering 2027. Middle East recovery remains the key variable, since geopolitical tensions have dampened expectations for a quick rebound in the region. Keep an eye on the stock through fourth-quarter results.
