Grok Bot Can Now Shop and Check Out for You, Musk Says
As seen on the 24/7 Wall St. homepage on October 11, 2026.
Musk is putting xAI directly into checkout, the layer where retailers and payment networks earn their margin. If shoppers stop visiting storefronts, search ads, loyalty programs and brand pricing power all get rerouted through an agent.

Elon Musk posted on October 11, 2026, that Grok Bot can research the best prices and complete purchases on a user's behalf, framing the feature as a direct replacement for the manual checkout process most online shoppers still use today.
The post quoted an account called Teslaconomics describing exactly what that looks like in practice: a user texts the bot what they want, and it finds the item, checks out, places the order, and sends back a receipt, without the buyer ever opening a browser or typing in a card number.
That positions xAI squarely inside the checkout layer, the point in commerce where retailers capture margin, payment networks collect fees, and search engines sell ads. If a shopping agent handles discovery and purchase in one step, the storefronts, loyalty programs, and sponsored listings that sit in between become optional.
The tweet logged roughly 600,000 impressions in its early hours, suggesting the announcement landed with an audience well beyond Musk's core tech following. Retailers and payment processors with exposure to consumer checkout volume have the clearest reason to track how quickly this capability rolls out.
