Zai Lab Q3 2026: Loss Narrows 27%, Pipeline Eyes First US Drug Filing
As seen on the 24/7 Wall St. homepage on November 5, 2026.
The loss came in 27% narrower than consensus, with revenue just shy of estimates. An 81.8% confirmed response rate for zocilurtatug pelitecan in first-line small-cell lung cancer is the pipeline driver, with management pointing to a first US BLA submission in 2027.

Zai Lab posted a GAAP loss of $0.41 per ADS in the third quarter of 2026, roughly 27% narrower than the consensus estimate of negative $0.56. Revenue of $108.2 million came in just 0.6% shy of the $108.8 million estimate, missing expectations, and reflected a 6.8% decline from the year-ago period, with net product revenue down about 7% year over year.
The bottom line was shaped by a pair of offsetting items. A $13.6 million inventory write-down weighed on the net loss, while $10.5 million in foreign currency gains worked in the other direction. R&D and selling, general and administrative expenses were both roughly flat year over year, which helped contain the overall damage even as cost of product revenue climbed to $51.3 million.
On the commercial side, NUZYRA benefited from wider market coverage and KarXT launched in China in June 2026, providing incremental revenue. OPTUNE, however, faced intensifying competition in glioblastoma and declined. Net product revenue did rise 2% sequentially, offering a modest counterpoint to the year-over-year pressure.

Zocilurtatug pelitecan, known as zoci, delivered an 81.8% confirmed response rate in first-line small-cell lung cancer data presented at ESMO 2026, with a 9.1% rate of Grade 3 or higher zoci-related adverse events and median progression-free survival not yet reached at a median follow-up of 10 months. CEO Samantha Du described 2027 as a pivotal year, with management targeting a first U.S. BLA submission for zoci and a global Phase 3 start in first-line extensive-stage small-cell lung cancer before year-end 2026.
To fund that push, Zai Lab closed a private placement of roughly 11.3 million ADSs at $22.04 per ADS on October 27, 2026, generating gross proceeds of approximately $250 million and net proceeds of about $241.2 million. The company held $549.7 million in cash and equivalents at the end of the quarter, though that figure was down 23% from a year earlier, and total liabilities rose 15% over the same period, keeping cash burn on investors' radar alongside the clinical milestones ahead.
Beyond zoci, management highlighted ZL-1503 in atopic dermatitis, with first-in-human data due at ACAAI in November 2026, and noted plans to submit China supplemental BLAs for efgartigimod in myositis and additional myasthenia gravis indications in 2027. The EPS beat history has been uneven over the past eight quarters, including a miss in Q4 2024 and Q1 2026, so the trajectory of the pipeline is shaping how most investors are likely to frame this report.
