Knees, still Zimmer Biomet's biggest franchise, shrank 2.6% in constant currency, and the quarter beat anyway because hips, sports medicine and technology all grew at upper single to double-digit rates. Management raised the low end of full-year revenue growth to 4.4% and narrowed adjusted EPS guidance to $8.50 to $8.60. Diversification is carrying the company now.

Zimmer Biomet posted adjusted EPS of $1.90 for the third quarter of 2026, edging past consensus, while revenue topped expectations. The beat came despite continued weakness in the company's historically dominant Knees franchise, which declined in constant currency amid a broadly softening reconstruction market.

The offsetting strength was spread across several other lines. Hips grew in constant currency, both domestically and internationally. The S.E.T. segment, which covers sports medicine, extremities, trauma, craniomaxillofacial and thoracic products, also rose in constant currency. Technology and Data, Bone Cement and Surgical posted the strongest showing of the group at 13.0% constant-currency growth. CEO Ivan Tornos noted that those franchises representing roughly two-thirds of the company's book of business grew at upper single-digit or double-digit rates, validating the diversification strategy.

GAAP diluted EPS came in at $1.00, well below the adjusted figure, as a contingent consideration fair-value gain in the year-ago quarter flipped to an expense this period. On the cash side, however, operating cash flow strengthened, a meaningful improvement that offers some ballast against the softer headline GAAP numbers.

Management used the quarter's momentum to tighten its full-year outlook. The low end of reported revenue growth guidance was lifted to 4.4%, narrowing the range to 4.4% to 4.9% from the prior 3.9% to 4.9%. Adjusted diluted EPS guidance was narrowed to $8.50 to $8.60, from the previous $8.47 to $8.59, reflecting measured confidence in the final stretch of the year.

The quarter also brought several strategic moves worth monitoring. Zimmer Biomet extended a multi-year limited exclusive distribution and supply agreement with THINK Surgical to broaden its robotics portfolio, launched the Megalodon Dynamic Compression System and SmartShot Marrow Access Device in foot and ankle, and opened a new Zimmer Biomet Institute training facility in Charlotte, North Carolina. A new global restructuring program was also initiated in September 2026, adding an operational variable investors will want to track in coming quarters.
