About Dynex Capital

Dynex Capital, Inc. (NYSE: DX) is an internally managed mortgage REIT that invests primarily in Agency mortgage-backed securities backed by U.S. residential and commercial real estate. The company's investment portfolio of approximately $28.3 billion as of September 30, 2026 consists almost entirely (99.99%) of highly liquid Agency securities, with Agency RMBS representing 95% and Agency CMBS representing 5% of the total portfolio. Dynex finances its investments primarily through repurchase agreements and actively hedges interest rate risk using interest rate swaps, U.S. Treasury futures, swaptions, and TBA securities. The company generates income from the spread between the yield on its mortgage assets and its financing costs, distributing earnings to shareholders as dividends consistent with its REIT structure.
