About Evergy
Evergy, Inc. (NASDAQ: EVRG) is a regulated electric utility holding company serving about 1.7 million customers in Kansas and Missouri, including through its subsidiary Evergy Kansas Central. It generates, transmits and distributes electricity from a generation fleet that includes coal-fired, nuclear and other resources, and it participates in the Southwest Power Pool regional transmission organization. Earnings come mainly from regulated rates that recover invested capital, so results depend on regulatory proceedings, weather and customer demand. A growing focus is attracting and serving large-load customers such as data centers under a large load power service tariff. Recent activity includes amendments to electric service agreements expected to add about 250 MW of load and a letter of intent with Digital Realty for a 1.4 GW project. This growth drives investment needs in new generation, battery storage and transmission. Evergy is also disposing of its non-regulated investments in early-stage clean energy and energy solution companies. Updated
We picked three dividend stocks to beat the market in 2026, and the results split in ways that reveal something uncomfortable about how income investors actually grade their own calls.
Some utilities have mailed unbroken dividend checks for seven straight decades, and a few on this list are quietly positioned to accelerate payouts just as data center demand rewrites their growth outlook.
