Core Natural Resources, Inc. (NYSE: CNR) is a producer of high-quality metallurgical and high calorific value thermal coals for global markets, created in January 2025 via the merger of CONSOL Energy and Arch Resources. The company operates 11 mines anchored by eight longwalls, including the Pennsylvania Mining Complex (the largest mining complex in the eastern U.S.), Leer, Leer South, and West Elk longwall mines, along with the Black Thunder surface mine — one of the world's largest and most productive. Core supplies customers in approximately 25 countries across five continents with a broad array of coal products serving steelmaking, cement manufacturing, infrastructure, industrial applications, and power generation. Approximately 75% of its exports are directed to industrial end users. The company owns 100% of Core Marine Terminal and holds a 35% interest in Dominion Terminal Associates, providing strategic East Coast marine export terminal capacity of 27 million tons per annum. Core is also developing innovative coal-based applications through its Innovations business unit, including Touchstone Advanced Composites (serving aerospace and defense), the C-BATT joint venture for carbon-based battery materials, and rare earth element and critical mineral extraction from coal byproducts.
