Did DKS Beat Earnings? Q4 2024 Results
Dick's Sporting Goods capped fiscal 2024 with a strong fourth quarter, posting adjusted EPS of $3.62 and revenue of $3.89 billion, beating the consensus estimates of $3.51 and $3.77 billion by 3.05% and 3.26%, respectively, as the retailer's largest sales quarter of the year benefited from accelerating comparable sales growth of 6.4%, up from 4.2% in Q3. Revenue edged up 0.5% year over year, with comp momentum driven by gains in both average ticket and transactions, while gross margin expanded 54 basis points to 34.96%. The upbeat results were tempered, however, by a cautious fiscal 2025 outlook, with management projecting EPS of $13.80 to $14.40 and net sales of $13.60 billion to $13.90 billion, citing tariff uncertainties and a dynamic macroeconomic backdrop as reasons for the conservative range. Comparable sales growth of 1% to 3% is expected for the coming year, even as the company plans to open roughly 16 House of Sport and 18 Field House locations and raised its quarterly dividend 10% to $1.21 per share.
