Did YORW Beat Earnings? Q2 2025 Results
York Water delivered a steady if unspectacular second quarter, with revenue edging ahead of expectations while earnings held flat against the prior year. The Pennsylvania utility posted Q2 2025 operating revenue of $19.20 million, a 2.4% gain year-over-year and a modest beat against the $19.00 million consensus estimate, as customer base expansion and infrastructure surcharge collections under the state's Distribution System Improvement Charge mechanism drove incremental gains. EPS came in at $0.35 per diluted share, unchanged from Q2 2024, as higher operation and maintenance costs, elevated interest expense, and increased depreciation absorbed much of the revenue lift. The picture was softer over the first half of the year, with six-month net income slipping to $8.69 million from $9.32 million, pushing half-year EPS down to $0.60 from $0.65. Looking ahead, York Water expects to deploy an additional $23.80 million in capital through the rest of 2025, targeting wastewater plant construction, software upgrades, and routine infrastructure improvements across its growing service territory.
- Growth in customer base driving revenue increases
- Distribution System Improvement Charge (DSIC) revenues
- Lower income taxes due to higher deductions from IRS tangible property regulations
- Higher operation and maintenance expenses partially offsetting gains
- Higher interest on debt
- Lower allowance for funds used during construction (AFUDC)
“second quarter operating revenues of $19,199,000 increased $449,000 and net income of $5,052,000 increased $59,000 compared to the second quarter of 2024. Basic and Diluted Earnings per share of $0.35 for the three-month period is unchanged compared to the same period last year. Increased revenues were primarily due to growth in the customer base and revenues from the Distribution System Improvement Charge (DSIC).”
