US Oil Well Completions Rose 10% in Fourth Quarter

The American Petroleum Institute (API) reports that oil well completions rose 10% in the fourth quarter of 2011 to 6,149.

Total wells completed in the quarter fell slightly quarter-over-quarter, from 10,487 in the third quarter to 10,383 in the fourth quarter. The total includes 3,217 natural gas wells and 1,017 dry holes. Drilling footage reached 74.65 million feet.
