Asian markets were mixed as the Nikkei moved up sharply.
The Nikkei rose .9% to 17,238. Sony rose on an upgrade from Goldman Sachs.
The Hang Seng fell .7% to 19,890. Cathay Pacific rose 1.4% to 18.54. China Mobile fell 2.1% to 66.45. China Netcom rose .2% to 20.35. China Unicom fell .7% to 10.94. HSBC fell .5% to 141.5 PCCW fell .4% to 4.8.
The KOSPI rose .3% to 1,374.
The Straits Times rose .4% to 3.011.
The Shanghai Composite rose 3.7% to 2,808.
