A container ship register in the UK and docked at the port of Mussalo in Finland was searched and found to be carrying 69 US-made Patriot missiles and 160 tons of an explosive called picrite. The deadly cargo was listed on the ship’s manifest as “fireworks.”

A report on Russian news site rt.com said the shipment was believed to be on its way to South Korea and that the missiles and explosives were loaded in Germany. The consignee is said to be a private individual.

Apparently the “fireworks” were not illegal, but had been loaded onto the ship by mistake. Finnish authorities said the cargo was properly packed, but was being shipped in an “unsafe manner.” The ship is expected to continue on its way after Christmas. No word on what will happen to the missiles and other “fireworks.”
