The Hang Seng jumped up 1.47% to 18,866. The Shanghai Composite’s improvement was better–up 2.88% to 2,332. The Shanghai index has lost more than a third of its value in the last year.
In Europe, the FTSE 100 was down .22% to 5,637. The DAX 30 fell .51% to 6,026, and may test the 6,000 level.
