The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has found no traces of an illegal-in-the-US fungicide in orange juice imports. Results of 19 tests have so far revealed none of the carbendazim fungicide.
The Coca-Cola Co. (NYSE: KO), makers of Minute Maid orange juice, first reported traces of the fungicide in imports from Brazil in late December. Pepsico Inc. (NYSE: PEP) is the other large maker of orange juice in the US, selling its products under the Tropicana brand.
MarketWatch reports that the FDA is still completing tests for carbendazim on 26 additional uice.samples of imported orange juice. The agency is also testing samples taken from US supermarkets for the fungicide.
