Some Orange Juice Imports Test Positive for Fungicide (KO, PEP)

The US Food and Drug Administration said today that five samples of Brazilian orange juice and six samples from Canada tested positive for the banned fungicide carbendazim. The agency did not release further details.

Of 80 samples taken, 29 had no carbendazim and 15 of the imported shipments have been released to the market. The Coca-Cola Co. (NYSE: KO) makes and sells orange juice under the Minute Maid brand and Pepsico Inc. (NYSE: PEP) makes and sells Tropicana brand orange juice products.
