Moving higher in lock step with the US, German consumer confidence was up as people look to February to a 10 month high. Research firm GfK said its forward-looking confidence indicator was up to 5.9 from 5.7 in January.
The number follows one from Markit which shows that German PMI was up sharply in January, a sign the manufacturing sector has improved and that a recession is less likely
