Spain announced that its GDP dropped .3% in the fourth quarter. Another negative quarter, and Spain will be officially in a recession. The National Statistics Institute made the announcement.
With Q1 2012 nearly a third gone, it is hard to say how Spain’s economy could recover. Unemployment is above 22%. The nation’s housing market continues to collapse. The financial situation of its states is worse than that of its national government
The central government has also agreed to austerity measures broad enough to withdraw any stimulus money from the economy
