In a move which will likely incite riots among labor unions, and which could break apart a political coalition that has helped Greece move toward approval of a new bailout, the government will fire 15,000 workers. The measure may get the ECB, EU, IMF, and private bond holders to settle negotiations with Greece, but it may also undermine employment levels that, along with rising unemployment in the private sector, will make the nation’s jobless level unsustainable.
