The National Automobile Dealers Association reports that its economists expect new car sales in the US to reach 13.9 million this year. Its forecasts may be better than those of the car companies. The NADA has more boots on the ground–it represents nearly 16,000 new-car and -truck dealerships with 32,500 franchises, both domestic and international.
The figure, if reached, would boost car companies profits. It would also help the industry add jobs and capacity. Most important for the NADA, it would take hundreds of dealers which make very little money, or lose it, and turn them profitable.
The primary reasons for the NADA forecast

(2) Affordable credit, and
(3) Aggressive incentives
