Wal-mart has been a success in Mexico and the US. It has faltered in Germany and South Korea. Its most important market for future global growth is China. That is no wonder given the size of the nation’s population and the rise of its middle class.
Wal-mart has had recent trouble in China. Local workers have pressed for higher wages. The food retailer has also been charged with selling tainted food.
The world’s largest retailer announced that Greg Foran will be the new China CEO. He is a vp in Wal-mart’s international operations and used to be a senior executive as Woolworths. It is an understatement to say he has his work cut out for him
