China car sales fell 24% in January, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers reported. The size of the fall off was blamed on the time as which China’s new year falls. But, the question is still open about how robust sales in the world’s largest car market will be this year. Last year, they rose only 5%, a rate much slow than that in the US, the second largest market.
Car manufacturers need to be particularly worried about China. A near-recession in Europe has started to severely undermine sales there. New markets with great promise-particularly India and Indonesia–still lack large middle classes, and, well built roads
